BBK DAV College for Women organised a holy havan to give an auspicious beginning to the seven day NSS Camp. The dignitaries who graced the occasion included Shri Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC, Chief guest, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, NSS Program Officer, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Guest of Honour, Dr. Kunwar Mandeep Singh, Deputy Director Sports, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia and S. Mohinderjit Singh, member LMC .
While interacting with volunteers, Dr. Rajesh Kumar expressed his views on the role of NSS in the progress of society. He advised the volunteers to serve the underprivileged with commitment and patience. He also congratulated the NSS unit of BBK DAV College for women for being the best NSS unit of Guru Nanak Dev University.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia congratulated the NSS unit on organizing the camp, Addressing the volunteers, she said that NSS plays a vital role by injecting the spirit of selfless service into the youngsters. She added that the NSS camp of 2019 is based mainly on the objective of health, hygiene, community welfare, environmental conservation, education, entrepreneurship, development and drug abuse. She remarked that Vedas and Gurbani also lay stress on service of mankind. She also said that such camps are useful to sensitize the youth towards various social issues. So the volunteers should keep the spark of community service alive.
An installation ceremony was also held in which badges were distributed among NSS volunteers.
Shri Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC delivered the vote of thanks and felicitated the faculty and students for their various successful ventures. On this occasion, Mrs. Surbhi Sethi, Mrs. Priya Sharma (NSS program officers), Mrs. Sweety Bala (Head, Physical Education Department) along with other team members were also present.
