BBK DAV Collegiate Senior Secondary School for Girls, Amritsar, organised a Book Reading Session to promote reading culture among students. On this occasion, renowned Punjabi writer Dr. Arvinder Kaur Dhaliwal marked her presence as the resource person.
During her address, Dr. Arvinder Kaur Dhaliwal read the story “Neele Moran Wali Chadar” from her debut and international award-winning book Jhanjran Wale Pair and shared her emotions and thoughts related to the story. The theme of the story revolved around the emotional struggles of a woman who, despite compromising with circumstances and suppressing her feelings, becomes a victim of domestic violence.
After the reading session, students interacted with the speaker and asked questions regarding the responsibilities of a writer and the experience of being an author. Encouraging students to read more books, she also spoke about several renowned writers and emphasized that the very basis of becoming a writer lies in developing curiosity and questioning oneself.
In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia stated that the college remains committed to providing such opportunities to its students to encourage the habit of reading among them.
Ms. Poonam Kohli, Head, Department of Economics, shared her views on the read story and acquainted the students with the true responsibilities of being a writer.
Dr. Swati Dutta, Librarian, conducted the stage proceedings and expressed gratitude to the guest speaker. On this occasion, Dr. Anita Narendra, Dr. Priyanka Bassi, and Dr. Seema Jaitley, along with other faculty members and students, were also present.
