The college organizes an Interactive Session on Respiratory Allergies to mark World Asthma Day in collaboration with MedicAid Hospital and FICCI FLO

BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, marked World Asthma Day by organizing an interactive session on the topic “Respiratory Allergies: Myths and Facts” in collaboration with MedicAid Hospital and FICCI FLO.  Dr. Ravneet Singh Grover, MD, Pulmonologist and Allergy Specialist, MedicAid Hospital, Amritsar, was the Key Speaker for the same. Dr. P S Grover, Managing Director, MedicAid Hospital, Amritsar, was the Chief Guest while Mrs. Himani Arora, Chairperson, FICCI FLO, Amritsar, was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.

Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said in her address that asthma and allergies are becoming increasingly common among young adults, and it is essential to raise awareness about the same. She added that the interaction would equip our students and faculty with the necessary knowledge to identify and manage respiratory allergies effectively. The Principal appreciated Dr. Grover as well as FICCI FLO for their support and participation in this initiative.

Dr. Ravneet dwelled upon the prevalence and impact of asthma and respiratory allergies. He explained the types, symptoms and treatment of asthma. He also highlighted the misconceptions surrounding the asthma and provided accurate information to dispel the myths. This followed an interactive session in which queries of the attendees were answered. Literature on asthma was distributed so as to create awareness amongst people about the disease. Free Peak Expiratory Flow Rate (PEFR) test was also conducted.

Sh. Sudershan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee, gave the vote of thanks. Dr. Anita Narendra, Dean, Community Development Initiatives, Dr. Shelly Jaggi, Dean, Media and Public Liaison, Dr. Priyanka Bassi, Head, PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, along with other faculty members and students, members of FICCI FLO, Amritsar and team of MedicAid Hospital were also present on the occasion.
