The college organizes a special Vedic Havan on Rishi Nirvana Utsav

BBK DAV College For Women organized a special Vedic Havan to pay a tribute to Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji and Mahatma Anand Swami Ji on their Nirvana Day. On this auspicious occasion, Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local advisory committee, acted as the ‘Yajman’ and was joined by Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia. 

 

Principal Dr. Walia expressed her gratitude to God for His blessings and welcomed the guests heartily. She said the teachings of great men like Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji imbue the existence of mankind with meaning and truly transform the world. When the world was deluged with dogma, superstition and ignorance, Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji’s teachings became the intellectual lodestar, leading people towards the light of knowledge. His work in the educational, spiritual and social arena is still relevant for the Indian society as well as the world. An intrepid reformer, He took effective measures for educational and social reform especially for women empowerment. She added that all the institutions of DAV are a lasting tribute to Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji. She further added that our deeds determine our fate and what we do makes us what we are. She also talked about Mahatma Anand Swami Ji, a glorified soul who emanated spiritual light and enlightened Arya Samaj. She said that DAV institutes are blessed to have President Dr. Punam Suri Ji, who by virtue of being the grandson of Anand Swami Ji, is the essence of the values of Arya Samaj. 

 

Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, in his address appreciated Principal Dr. Walia for organising such havans on all the momentous occasions. He said that Maharishi Swami Dayanand Ji believed that the Vedas are Divine revelation and preach the worship of one God.  He added that Swami Ji abolished the evil traditions from the society and is particularly remembered as the harbinger of liberty for women. 

 

The havan was concluded with a bhajan performed by the Music Department other dignitaries present on the occasion were Mrs. Balbir Kaur Bedi, Mrs. Anita Mehra, Office Bearers and members of teaching and non teaching staff.
