NSS and NCC units of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar organized a tree plantation drive as a part of Swacchta Pakhwada Scheme spotlighting the significance of preservation of environment. On this occasion, Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Director and Head Department of Sports and Physical Education, GNDU, Amritsar was the Chief Guest. Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee and Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia presided over this event. Under the campaign, saplings of Michelia and Beleric were planted in the lawn in front of Sports Block of the College. An awareness rally was also taken out on Lawerence Road to convey the message of cleanliness and hygiene. The rally was flagged off by the Director, Sports Prof. (Dr.) Sukhdev Singh and Prof. (Dr.) Amandeep Singh, Department of Sports, GNDU.
On this occasion, Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee and Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia congratulated NSS Programme Officers, NCC Caretakers, NSS Volunteers and NCC Cadets for taking this initiative. She said that it is a crucial step towards “Clean and Green India”. She also exhorted the volunteers and NCC cadets to come forward to make India Green and Pollution free. Dr. Amandeep Singh, Professor, Department of Physical Education, GNDU, Mrs. Sweety Bala, HOD, Department of Physical Education, NSS Programme Officers, Mrs. Surbhi Sethi, Mrs. Priya Sharma and NCC Incharges and Caretaker along with their team members participated in drive with full zeal.
