The college organises an Interactive Session on Promoting Quality through NAAC Accreditation in HEIs

BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised an Interactive Session on “Promoting Quality through NAAC Accreditation in HEIs” under UGC’s Paramarsh Scheme. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Head, School of Social Sciences, and NSS Progarmme Officer, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, was the resource person.

Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia, in her welcome address, emphasized the need to channelize efforts towards ensuring the holistic academic excellence through quality enhancing and sustaining initiatives. Sharing her experience as a member of NAAC Peer Team, she gave tips to the coordinators of the mentee institutions about do’s and don’ts to be followed for pro-institution NAAC accreditation.

At the onset, Mrs. Rajni Mehra, Associate Professor, PG Deptt. Of Computer Science and Applications, began the event with an introduction and objectives of Paramarsh Scheme “Mentoring of NAAC Aspirant Institutions to Promote Quality Assurance in Higher Education”. She also apprised the participants of the creation and operation of IQAC.

This was followed by two informative lectures on the topic “Promoting Quality through NAAC Accreditation in Higher Education Institutions” delivered by Dr Rajesh Kumar. Dr Rajesh, in his lectures, dwelt upon the vision, mission and value framework of NAAC. He also made coordinators of the mentee institutions aware about the need and benefits of NAAC accreditation in higher education institutions. Further, he discussed a set of seven criteria identified by NAAC as the basis of its assessment procedures.

Thereafter, an interactive session was held in which co-ordinators of the mentee Institutions interacted with Dr Rajesh Kumar. The session ended with the comments by Dr Kumar on the issues taken up during the interaction. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs Rajni, IQAC Co-ordinator & Convenor.
