The College holds 50th Annual Awards Day

BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar held 50th Annual Awards Day to honour the young achievers in the field of academics, cultural and extra-curricular activities. Sh. Sunil Dutti, MLA, Amritsar (North) was the Chief Guest for the occasion while Dr. Ramesh Arya, Vice-President, DAV CMC, New Delhi presided over the function. As a part of the initiative of green environment, the college presented saplings to the guests and dignitaries.

The function began with the singing of DAV song and chanting of Ved Mantra Gayan along with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp of knowledge. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the guests and presented the annual report of the college highlighting achievements of the college in the field of Academics, Sports and Extra-curricular activities. She further said that it was a proud moment for the college to honour the students who have always performed and maintained merit positions in GNDU examinations and various extra-curricular activities, thus making BBK DAV College for Women one of the top-ranking women institutions of North India. She gave a special message to the students and said ‘Growth mindset’ is very essential to be successful and they should develop resilience i.e. ability to look at larger perspective of life.

Sh. Sunil Dutti, MLA, congratulated the Principal, staff and students for organising this function. He emphasized on the need of adjustment in one’s life to establish good relation and said that teachers play a pivotal role in building a strong foundation of the society. In a magnanimous gesture, Hon’ble Sh. Sunil Dutti announced a grant of
Rs. 5 Lakhs for the development of the college.

Nearly 700 students were honoured on this day. Ms. Harseerat Randhawa was awarded with Late Smt. Saraswati Devi Award for Excellence in academics as well as co-curricular activities. A documentary on ‘Fit India Movement’ launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India was shown to the audience, which was prepared by the Department of Multimedia. College students enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing performance of Sufi song. The College Magazine ‘Shachi’ was released by the distinguished guest of honour during the function.

Dr. Ramesh Arya blessed the students and prayed for their good health, personality, power and knowledge; he congratulated them for their merit in academics as well as achievements in co-curricular activities. He motivated the students to internalize the values advocated by Arya Samaj and to follow the path of hard work and perseverance.

Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC presented the vote of thanks and motivated the students to work hard. S. Mohinderjit Singh, Smt. Balbir Kaur Bedi, Sh. Charanjit Rai Mahendru, Sh. Rajeev Sehgal, Sh. Mukesh Anand, Smt. Bharti Sharma, Sh. Paramjit Singh, Sh. Gurpal Singh, S. Harminder Singh and Principal Dr. Neera Sharma were also present on the occasion. The function concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
