Whenever calamities and crises have struck the nation, DAV organisation has always been in the forefront to fulfil its responsibilities in the true spirit of Arya Samaj values. The DAV College Managing Committee, under the aegis of the dynamic leadership and vision of President Dr. Punam Suri (Padma Shri Awardee ), is making all possible efforts to face the challenging situation caused by the corona virus pandemic. A contribution of Rs. 5 crores has been made by DAV President Dr Punam Suri, to the PM CARES Fund, to support and strengthen the country in the ongoing war against the pandemic.

As President Dr. Punam Suri reiterates, it is for the last 133 years that DAV and Arya Samaj institutions have been helping the country in national and natural disasters with utmost dedication. In an initiative of health and safety, DAV has not only announced the closure of all its 920 institutions, but has also introduced a system of online learning programs, keeping in mind the best interest of the students, so that they utilize the time being spent at home.
While giving this information Dr. Pushpinder Walia, Principal, BBK DAV College for Women, said that it is a matter of pride and honor for us, that President Dr. Punam Suri has invoked the spirit of service in the DAV institutions so that they come forward and offer generous help to the needy during this calamity.

It is noteworthy that with the inspiration of President Dr. Punam Suri, BBK DAV College for Women is actively engaged in community service. All the employees of the institution, including the Principal, have given their one-day salary to the national cause. In addition to this, the Principal, Chairman of LMC, and teachers, provided a support amount of Rs 52,500 to Smt. Alka Kalia, SDM ( Majitha)so that essential groceries could be delivered to the villagers of the area. The college also distributed packets of groceries to its class IV employees. Realizing the importance of social distancing, the college has also started the concept of ‘work from home’, in which online teaching programmes have been started by the faculty. Teachers are using various online mediums, videoconferencing and YouTube links to impart quality education to the students.

Principal Dr. Walia said that the BBK DAV team fully supports President Dr Punam Suri in standing by the Prime Minister of India during this hour of COVID crisis, in the larger interest of the society and the nation.
