Gatka team of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar won the GNDU Gatka Inter-College Championship held at Guru Nanak Dev University Campus, Amritsar. The college team outshone SN College, Banga, Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala, SD College, Gurdaspur and Khalsa College, Amritsar and registered a convincing victory.
Ms. Rajbeer Kaur, Sumanpreet Kaur, Manpreet Kaur and Rajwinder Kaur won gold medals in (Single Stick Event), whereas Ms. Neha Rani, Paramjeet Kaur, Manpreet Kaur and Navneet Kaur won gold medals in (Fari Soti Event).
Mr. Lakhbir Singh, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police, Amritsar and Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia congratulated the young achievers and motivated them to attain greater heights in future. She added that the college players have always made a mark in various championships and, as a result, BBK DAV is a forerunner in sports. Team members of Gatka are: Ms. Rajbeer Kaur, Neha Rani, Sumanpreet Kaur, Rajwinder Kaur, Paramjeet Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Rajwinder Kaur and Navneet Kaur. Prof. Sweety Bala, Head, Department of Physical Education, Prof. Savita Kumari, Prof. Gaganpreet Kaur, Gatka Coach Mr. Guravtar Singh along with faculty members felicitated the players on their achievements.
It is worth mentioning here that the college teams are maintaining their winning streak consistently, having already won Chess and Yoga Championships.
