BBK DAV COLLEGE FOR WOMEN ORGANISES AN AWARENESS LECTURE ON “WATER CONSERVATION” UNDER JAL MAHOTSAV INITIATIVE

BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised an awareness lecture on “Water Conservation” under the Jal Mahotsav initiative of the Ministry of Jal Shakti. The session aimed to sensitize students about the urgent need to conserve water and adopt sustainable practices in daily life.
 
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Rashmi Kalia, Head, Department of Botany, and Mr. Hardeep Singh, Associate Professor, PG Department of Computer Science and Applications. Both resource persons provided valuable insights into the growing concerns of water scarcity and the pressing environmental challenges associated with it. They further highlighted the importance of water conservation and discussed practical solutions, such as rainwater harvesting, reducing wastage, and adopting responsible water consumption habits, urging students to become proactive contributors in preserving water resources.
 
An awareness rally was carried out in Malawali, the adopted village of college, under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The students created awareness through posters in the middle school. Ms. Priya Sharma and Dr. Palwinder Singh accompanied the students.
 
In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia appreciated the initiative and lauded the efforts of the organisers for conducting such an enlightening session. She emphasised that educational institutions play a pivotal role in shaping environmentally responsible citizens and awareness programmes like these are essential in addressing global challenges, such as water scarcity, as they instill a sense of responsibility among youth, promoting sustainable living and its importance.
 
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, making it an engaging and informative experience.
