BBK DAV COLLEGE FOR WOMEN ORGANISES 57TH ANNUAL AWARDS DAY

BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised 57th Annual Awards Day to felicitate its young achievers in the field of academics, sports and co-curricular events. Hon’ble Dr. S.P. Singh Oberoi, Industry Leader as well as Philanthropist, Dubai, was the Chief Guest while Dr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh, Director Sports, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and Prof. Dr. Maninder Lal Singh, Former Director, MTTC, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, were the Guests of Honour. The function began with the singing of DAV Gaan and chanting of Vedic Mantras along with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp of knowledge.

Welcoming the guests, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia stated that Dr. S.P. Singh Oberoi is a great asset to society and has done enormous work for the welfare of humanity, serving as a role model for the youth of India. She said that it was a proud moment for the college to honour the students who have always performed and maintained merit positions in GNDU examinations and various extra-curricular activities, thus, making BBK DAV College for Women one of the top-ranking women institutions of North India. Addressing the students, she said that awards give one the taste of success. She further added that in the journey of life, one may stumble, but one should not give up; rather one should get up and move forward with full gusto. She also presented the Annual Report highlighting the college achievements in various arenas.

Dr. S.P. Singh Oberoi said in his address that DAV institutions were established with a dream of literate India and BBK DAV College for Women is fulfilling this dream with commitment and dedication. He emphasized that DAV institutions are firmly rooted in the ideals and vision of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati. He highlighted that these institution were established with the aim of spreading education based on Vedic values, promoting moral integrity and nurturing responsible citizens. He further added that the college has been working relentlessly for providing quality education in the state with an aim of holistic growth of its students. Dr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh and Prof. Dr. Maninder Lal Singh lauded the achievements of the college and wished the best for its future growth and progress.

Nearly 800 students were honoured on this day. Ms. Vedita Kapoor, BBA Sem VI, was awarded with Late Smt. Saraswati Devi Award for excellence in academics as well as co-curricular activities and Ms. Trisha, B.Sc. (Economics) Sem VI, was given Late Sh. A. S. Soni Award for All-rounder Best Student. College players were awarded a substantial amount of Rs. 5,00,000 by Guru Nanak Dev University in recognition of their outstanding performance at the intervarsity level and in the Khelo India University Games. Coaches of various games were honoured during the event. Ms Jyoti, a hockey player, was conferred with the best player of the year award for her outstanding performance in sports during the year 2025-26.

College students enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing performance of giddha and folksong. Adv. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Advisory Committee, presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Nijjar, Mrs. Balbir Kaur Bedi, Dr. P.S. Grover, Dr. Kamal Baghi, Sh. Ashwani Kapoor, Members of Local Committee, Sh. Pyare Lal Seth, Dr. Arvind Sharma, Members of Arya Samaj, Sh. Anil Vinayak, and Sh. Atul Mehra were present on the occasion. The function concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
