BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, celebrated Independence Day with great patriotic fervor in which Subedar Major Prithvi Chand, 9 Punjab Battalion, NCC, Amritsar, marked his presence as the chief guest, along with Havaldar Harwant Singh, and Mr. Bhupinder Singh from the Intelligence Wing.
The day commenced with the hoisting of the national flag, along with the singing of National Anthem and the parade presented by NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and Sports women.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the chief guest and observed that Independence Day is not merely a celebration of freedom but also a reminder of the responsibilities that accompany it. She emphasised that the contemporary generation must value the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters as well as armed forces and carry forward the values of patriotism, discipline, unity and social responsibility. The Principal also appreciated the NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and all the students for their active participation in nation-building and community service.
In his address, Subedar Major Prithvi Chand spoke about the dedication, sacrifices, and difficult conditions in which soldiers serve the nation to ensure the safety and security of its citizens. He encouraged the youth to work tirelessly for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the nation.
Advocate Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Committee, delivered the vote of thanks and urged the youth to contribute to nation-building with honesty and integrity. On this occasion, all office bearers and teaching as well as non-teaching staff members were present.
