To mark the 113th birth anniversary of the hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, National Sports Day was celebrated in BBK DAV College for Women. A Sports-based motivational programme was organised by the department of physical education under the aegis of Mr. Sudershan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee and Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia. The main motive behind organising such a programme was to pay a rich tribute to hockey wizard, Major Dhyan Chand and to acquaint the students with the significance of National Sports Day.
On this occasion, Mr. Sudershan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee and Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia cut a cake, commemorative of Major Dhyan Chand’s 113th birth anniversary. Staff secretary Mrs. Mandeep Sokhi, HOD Mrs. Sweety Bala, Physical Education Department and all the sports players joined in the occasion.
College hockey team and sports club members extended a warm welcome to the Principal madam with shadows of hockey sticks, Indian National Flag and rose sticks.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal explained the purpose of the programme and motivated the students to touch the zenith by exploring their hidden potential.
Mr. Sudershan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia, staff members and all players offered a tribute with hockey sticks to the great hockey wizard.
