An extension lecture on Changing Scenario of Folk Culture of Rajasthan

EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat club of BBK DAV College for Women organized an extension lecture on ‘Changing Scenario of Folk Culture of Rajasthan’. The resource person for the lecture was Dr. Kailash Chandra Sharma, retired Senior Branch Manager of Punjab National Bank and a renowned writer and poet. The versatile creative writer, does not limit himself to any special school of thought and this is reflected in his vast variety of works. He has written two novels, twenty-five short-stories, seventy poems and twenty-two plays. He pioneered Triveni Kala Sangam, Jaipur, a music and drama institution on 18th September 1995 and has been working on it with great zeal and zest since then.

Dr. Shelly Jaggi, Nodal officer and Associate Professor in Hindi, welcomed and introduced the resource person, Dr. Kailash Chander Sharma to the audience. Throwing light on his influential and charismatic personality, she highlighted his creative skills.

In his audio-video presentation, Dr. Kailash expressed his gratitude to Principal, Dr. Pushpinder Walia for providing him the opportunity to address the young audience. He shared that the artistic and cultural tradition of Rajasthan exercises a magnetic influence at both national and international level. By reciting his self-composed poems and by narrating various anecdotes, he fabricated an ambience of brotherhood, communal harmony and women empowerment which reflected the spirit of Rajasthan. Dr. Kailash expressed his concern about the change in the values, traditions and customs which inherit from our ancestors. He stated that in the contemporary times, the transformation in the cultural values is making our culture sham and weak and thus, it becomes inevitable to preserve and nurture the rich heritage of our nation by educating the youth. Dr. Kailash’s writings overtly or covertly express his personal experiences and his keenness to disseminate the spirit of harmony. He felt indebted to his guru, Sh. Deenanath ji for imparting him knowledge and wisdom.

Dr. Naresh, Associate Professor presented the vote of thanks and appreciated the presentation of Dr. Kailash Chander Sharma. Principal, Dr. Pushpinder Walia congratulated ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat club for organizing this presentation and for introducing Dr. Kailash Chander Sharma to the students with his inspiring and enthusing presentation.
