Adding another feather to its cap, BBK DAV College bagged GNDU Overall General Sports Championship (2019-20) consecutively for the ninth time. College also bagged Second Runners-Up Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh Overall General Sports Championship Trophy 2019-20 in Men & Women combined section.
34 outstanding players of the college were awarded with the cash prize of Rs 12 Lakh at a ceremony organized by the Department of Sports, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Ms. Sushikala Durgaprasad Agashe, International Cyclist from the college, won cash prize of Rs. 1,27000 and Rishika Khajuria, Fencing Player, won the cash prize of Rs. 60,000/-.
It is pertinent to note that out of 30 competitions organized by Guru Nanak Dev University, College won championships in 12 competitions of Boxing, Basketball, Track Cycling, Pistol Shooting, Wrestling, Judo, Football, Karate Pencak Silat, Canoeing, Kayaking and Wushu, won 1st Runners up Positions in 9 competitions of Archery Compound, Rifle Shooting, Handball, Kabbadi, Road Cycling, Weight Lifting, Fencing, Rowing, Artistic Gymnastics and 2nd Runners up Positions in 7 competitions of Hockey, Archery recurve, Kho-Kho, Rugby, Taekwondo, Softball and Rhythmic Gymnastics.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia, received the trophy from Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Director, Sports, GNDU, Dr. Hardeep Singh, Dean, Academic Affairs, GNDU, Dr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh, Assistant Director Sports, GNDU, Mrs. Sweety Bala, Head, Department of Sports, BBK DAV College for Women, were also present on the occasion.
