BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, through its Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell, actively participated in a webinar organized on the occasion of World Environment Day under the theme “Inspired by Nature for Climate for Our Future.” The programme aimed to enhance environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices among faculty members.
The webinar commenced with a welcome address by Prof. U.N. Roy, who highlighted the significance of World Environment Day and emphasized the need for collective efforts towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Participants had the opportunity to learn from distinguished environmental practitioners. Shri Gopal Singh Negi, a noted conservationist from Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, shared valuable insights into biodiversity revival in the Trans-Himalayan region through community-based natural farming and seed conservation initiatives. Shri Jagat Singh Janglee, Brand Ambassador of the Uttarakhand Forest Department, narrated the inspiring story of Kot Malla Mixed Forest Village and discussed the role of local communities in restoring forest ecosystems through traditional water harvesting practices and sustainable resource management.
The webinar concluded with an interactive session during which participants engaged with the speakers and discussed various issues related to biodiversity conservation, climate change, ecological restoration, and sustainable living practices. The event provided an enriching learning experience for the members of the UBA Cell, enhancing their awareness of environmental challenges and motivating them to contribute towards building a greener and more sustainable future.
