BBK DAV College for Women held its 54th Convocation to award degrees to the 2023-24 batch of graduates and postgraduates. Hon’ble Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Vice- Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Hon’ble S. Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia, Mayor of Amritsar, was the Distinguished Guest of Honour for the function. The function started with lighting of the lamp, chanting of Vedic Mantras and DAV Gaan.
After welcoming the dignitaries on the stage, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia presented the annual report of the college, highlighting the achievements of BBK DAV in Academics, Sports and Co-curricular activities at state, national and international level. In her address to the degree recipients, Dr. Walia emphasized that BBK DAV is committed not only to academic excellence but also towards nurturing responsible and compassionate individuals who uphold integrity and contribute positively to society.
In the convocation address, Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GNDU, acknowledged the tremendous contribution of BBK DAV College for Women towards women education. He highlighted the importance of hard work and perseverance, encouraging students to embrace failure as a powerful catalyst for growth, resilience, and self-discovery.
Felicitating the degree holders, S. Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia, Mayor of Amritsar, emphasized the significance of integrating women into the nation’s workforce. He encouraged young graduates to go forth with confidence, and let the world feel the impact of their empowered minds and compassionate hearts.
More than 500 graduates & postgraduates from various disciplines of Arts, Commerce, Science, Journalism, Economics, Computers Science, Multimedia and Fashion Design were awarded degrees on this occasion. Mediapersons from various media houses of the city were also honoured for their outstanding contribution in the field of journalism. The Department of Youth Welfare enthralled the audience with spell-binding performances of folk orchestra and folk dance. News Bulletin of the college was also released during the event.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia and Advocate Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairperson, Local Committee, honoured the dignitaries with souvenirs. Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor proposed the vote of thanks while Dr. Anita Narendra, Head, Department of Hindi, conducted the stage. Members of Arya Samaj namely, Col. Ved Mittar, Sh. Inderjit Thukral and Sh. Vimal Kapoor along with Sh. Ashwani Kapoor were also present on the occasion. The function concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
