NSS Unit of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a Tree Plantation Drive in collaboration with National EduTrust of India, registered under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, with the aim to promote the idea of environmental sustainability. The event was graced by Sh. Lal Viswas Bains, PCS, SDM Amritsar II. Under the campaign, saplings of dharek sukhchain and jamun were planted in the lawn adjacent to Commerce Block of the college in which approximately sixty volunteers enthusiastically participated.
Addressing the volunteers, Sh. Lal Viswas Bains said that every tree we plant helps create a better and more balanced world, thus nurturing a sapling plant means nurturing a sustainable future.
In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia underscored the importance of planting trees as such plantation drives foster environmental consciousness from the repercussions of climate change. She also added that these saplings are the seeds of awareness and action, hence cultivating a legacy of sustainability for future generations.
On this occasion, Dr. Anita Narendra, Dean, Community Development Initiatives, NSS Programme Officers Ms. Surbhi Sethi and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal along with the team members Dr. Palwinder Singh and Ms. Saguna were also present.
