A Blood Donation Camp was held by the Youth Red Cross Society, NSS and NCC units of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar. Dr. P.S. Grover, Managing Director, MedicAid Hospital and Dr. H.S. Nagpal, Managing Director, Hartej Hospital, were the chief guests for the inaugural and closing ceremonies of the camp, respectively. A team of doctors under the supervision of Dr. Kamaljit Kaur, Assistant Professor, Blood Bank, Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, conducted the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that donating blood means giving life to somebody. It is very important to nurture the feelings of empathy and compassion amongst students so that they can become responsible citizens and good human beings. She also informed that Blood Donation Camp is an annual event in the college, as community service programmes are an integral part of the working of BBK DAV.
Dr. P.S. Grover and Dr. H.S. Nagpal congratulated the college Principal, Management, staff and the students for organizing this camp. A total of 30 units of blood were collected during the camp.
Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee, applauded the students for their spirit of philanthropy and their sense of social responsibility.
Dr. Anita Narinder, Dean, Community Services, Dr. Binu Kapoor, Coordinator, Red Cross Unit, Dr. Shelly Jaggi, Dean, Media & Public Liaison, along with other members of the staff, were also present on the occasion.
