To celebrate World Poetry Day, PG. Department of Punjabi, BBK DAV College for Women, held an interactive session with a renowned NRI poet Raj Lali Batala. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the guest and said that poetry is the most valued form of artistic and cultural expression. She further added that Sikh gurus have uplifted the status of poetry in Punjabi culture by using poetical verses in Adi Granth. While praising the poems of Sh. Raj Lali Batala, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that his poems area reflection of the world around us and help us in understanding and perceiving our relationships; she also shared her personal experiences of delving into poetry.
While speaking on the occasion, Sh. Raj Lali Batala stated that it is always an honor to work for one’s own mother language. He said that Punjab and Punjabyiat live in the blood of Punjabis. No one can take away our love for our mother land and mother language, no matter where we live in the world. He thanked Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia, and Department of Punjabi for inviting him and giving him a chance to speak on Punjabi poetry.
Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee thanked Sh. Raj Lali for sparing his time and for giving such enlightening thoughts on Punjabi Poetry. He said that writing and reading poetry has highly therapeutic effect on one’s mind and best framework of poem can be visualized in mother tongue only.
Dr. Sunita Sharma conducted the stage for the event while Dr. Rani, Head, Department of Punjabi, Dr. Shelly Jaggi, Nodal Officer along with other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
