BBK DAV College for Women, organized a national seminar to celebrate 147th establishment day of Arya Samaj. Padma Shri Dr. Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Chancellor, Central University, Dharamshala, Himachal Pardesh and Dr. Sudha Narendra, Head, Department of Hindi and Director, HRDC, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar were the resource persons for the event. While welcoming the guests, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia threw light on the ten basic principles of Arya Samaj. She added that pursuit of Vedic Knowledge, community service and common good form the core of Arya Samaj and under the visionary leadership of President DAVCMC Padma Shri, Sh. Punam Suri, BBK DAV is celebrating this day to commemorate the spirit of Arya Samaj.
In her address Prof. Dr. Sudha Jatindera said that Arya Samaj teaches us the art of living life with positivity and alacrity. Arya Samaj has taken a stand against many social evils like child marriage and sati pratha. Swami Dayanand taught us to feel pride of our nation, language and religion.
While sharing his views, Dr. Harmohinder Singh Bedi said that Swami Dayanand Sarswati and his teachings can help us in understanding the requirements and necessities of education system of modern India. He said that history of Indian education cannot be written without Arya Samaj. He added that to uphold and support the message of Arya Samaj, efforts are being done to collect all the lectures of Swami Dayanand in the form of a book.
Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee, congratulated Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia and Arya Yvti Sabha of the college for successfully organizing the seminar. He said that women education in India is the gift of Swami ji’s efforts toward women empowerment.
Dr. Anita Narindera, Head, Department of Hindi, Dr. Shelly Jaggi, Nodal Officer along with other staff members were also present on the occasion.
