BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar organised a two-day Media Fest ‘Different Strokes-2019’ by PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, with the theme ‘Celebrating Women Leaders’.
On the first day, Ms. Surleen Kaur, TV Anchor and Creative Director, The Kapil Sharma Show was the Guest of Honor. She interacted with the students and shared her experience of working in TV industry. The fest saw a bunch of engaging events and enormous participation by students, who displayed their talent and creative skills in competitions like Quiz, Debate, Creative Writing, Rj, Collage making, Caption writing, Hashtag, Photography, Extempore and Pictionary.
On the second day competitions like Ad-Mad, Stand Up Comedy, Interview seeking, Voice Over, News Reading and Print Ad were organised.
The judge for various competitions were renowned media persons of Amritsar, RJ Heer and RJ Megha from Red FM, RJ Sam from Radio Mirchi and Ms. Shivani Sehgal, journalist from Dainik Bhaskar. Dr. Suprabha Arya from Department of Hindi & Theatre and Ms. Shefali, Head, Department of Fine Arts of the college were also among the judges.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia congratulated the department for successfully hosting the event. Addressing the gathering of budding journalists, she said that media students should have an inquisitive mind so that they can raise questions pertaining to society.
Terming journalism as a field of passion, Head of the Department, Dr. Priyanka Bassi congratulated the winners of various competitions.
