The NCC and NSS Units and Sports Wing of BBK DAV College for Women observed International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2018 under the guidance of Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia. The grand occasion was graced by Subedar Major KP Tiwari from NCC and Ms Sarla Rani, a Patanjali recognized Yoga Practitioner. At the very outset, they were accorded a warm welcome by the college Principal.
Over 250 participants from Mai Bhago Government Polytechnic College for Girls, Bhavan’s SL Public School, Amritsar, Khalsa Public School, Amritsar and Government School, Mall Road along with BBK DAV College’s students were taught Yoga Asanas by Ms Sarla Rani. A big number of BBK faculty also enthusiastically took part in yoga practice session. Addressing the participants, Ms Sarla Rani said that Yoga has the power to heal and is helpful in maintaining the equilibrium between body and mind.
In her address to the gathering, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia dwelt upon the benefits of yoga in daily life. She emphasized that in the stressful modern life, yoga’s benefits can never be over-emphasized. It is a unique combination of spirituality, meditation and exercise.
NCC Coordinator of the college Dr. Aditi Jain and NSS Programme Officers Ms. Surbhi Sethi , Mrs Priya Sharma, Mrs. Sweety Bala, Head, Department of Physical Education and other faculty members also participated in the event.
