ICSSR sponsored International Conference “Krinavanto Viswamaryam: Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji’s Philosophy and Values in the Contemporary Context” concluded at BBK DAV College for Women. Dr. G.S. Chauhan, Joint Secretary, University Grants Commission, was the Chief Guest while Sh. J.P. Shoor, President, Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Upsabha Punjab and Honorary Treasurer, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi was the Guest of Honour. The Valedictory Session was presided over by Padma Shree Professor (Dr.) Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia extended gratitude to all the dignitaries and resource persons for being a part of the conference. She said that the conference was a tribute to the invaluable contribution of Maharishi Ji towards a progressive Indian society. Dr. Walia also highlighted the institution’s steadfast commitment to fostering research and intellectual growth.
Dr. Shoor congratulated Dr. Walia on the successful completion of the conference and emphasized that Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji’s philosophy is deeply rooted in justice, social reforms, and the upliftment of the weaker sections of society. He further highlighted the pivotal role of the DAV College Managing Committee in upholding and implementing Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji’s principles.
In his Valedictory Address, Dr. Chauhan remarked that the Vedas teach the significance of leading a virtuous life. He stressed that our focus should always be on performing noble deeds, leaving the outcomes in the hands of the Divine. He added that the Vedas are the sacred heritage of our civilization, and offer invaluable lessons for a successful and meaningful life.
While delivering the Presidential Address, Prof. (Dr.) Bedi said that Satyarth Prakash and the numerous letters written by Maharishi Dayanand Ji, have had a profound impact on shaping and enlightening modern society. He added that Maharishi Ji’s teachings continue to inspire and guide the Indian education system as well as intellectual and moral growth.
It is pertinent to note that two technical sessions were held prior to the valedictory function. The third technical session was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Sunil, Dean, Faculty of Languages & Head, Department of Hindi, Guru Nanak Dev University while Dr. Udyan Arya, Principal, Guru Virjanand Gurukul (Sanskrit College), Kartarpur, was the resource person for this session. The fourth technical session of the conference was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar, School of Social Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University and Prof. ( Dr.) Sunil was the resource person for this session. Scholars from around the world actively participated in insightful discussions on the visionary ideas of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji during both technical sessions.
A theatrical presentation titled ‘Vayam Rashtre Jagryam’ dedicated to the life and teachings of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Ji was shown during the valedictory ceremony. The play highlighted his relentless pursuit of truth, fight against social evils and vision for an enlightened society. Besides an exhibition Mehak Punjab Di, celebrating the rich culture and heritage of Punjab was also organised. Advocate Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairperson, Local Committee extended a vote of thanks to the distinguished guests and the dignitaries.
