BBK DAV College for Women organised a theatrical enactment of Balwant Gargi’s devotional play ‘Gagan Meh Thaal‘ on the occasion of 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The play is an excerpt from the Sikh history that depicts the spiritual awareness, divine humility and the code of life and living enshrined in the scriptures. The Chief Guest of the event was Sardar Bakthawar Singh, Commissioner, PUDA. Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC and Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the Chief Guest with a sapling.
The cast and crew of the play consisted of the students of B.Voc (Theatre and Stagecraft) and teachers of the Department namely, Mrs. Sukhwinder Kaur, Mr. Amandeep and Ms. Deepika. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia lauded the efforts of Department of B.Voc who put in their best efforts to recreate an ideal ambience of 16th Century. She further said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th Birth Anniversary is being celebrated throughout the country and across the globe because Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings of love, peace, equality and brotherhood have universal and eternal value.
While addressing the students, Chief Guest Sardar Bakhtawar Singh encouraged the students to follow the path shown by Guru Nanak Dev Ji and also emphasized on making an effort to escape the human traits that give rise to evil thoughts for others like ego, anger, lust, greed and attachment.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia presented a memento to the Chief Guest. Dr. Rupinderpal Kaur from the Department of Punjabi conducted the stage. College students and faculty members were present in the event.
