BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, extended a warm welcome to its new batch of students by organizing Freshers’ Fiesta at Urvi Auditorium. The programme was presided over by Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia and chief guest for the programme was Dr. Taunalyn Rutherford, Professor and Historian at Brigham Young University, USA.
The senior students of the college welcomed the new students by presenting multiple dazzling performances like Sufi Song, Hindi Song, Punjabi Songs and Dance Performances. The main event of the programme was the Fashion Show that brought to the stage best of beauty with brains.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia extended a warm welcome to the freshers and honoured the winners of various talent hunt competitions organised by various departments of the college. In her address, she exhorted the students to work on their inner beauty as outer beauty fades away with time. She added that these kinds of events celebrate youth and their creativity and also congratulated the Department of Youth Welfare on organizing the function, during which more than 100 students were awarded.
In her address, Dr. Rutherford expressed her delight on how teachers are respected in India, and the wonderful bond between teachers and students.
Ms. Noor of BFA (Applied Arts) Semester-I won the title of Miss Charming, Ms. Vaishnavi of +1 Arts got the title of Miss Confident and Ms. Arpita of B.Voc (Banking and Finance) Semester-I was crowned as Miss BBK Elegant 2023. The panel of judges included Dr. Simardeep, Mr. Sundeep Zutshi and Mrs. Kamayani. The function was organised by Youth Welfare Department of the college under the supervision of Prof. Naresh Kumar, Dean, Youth Welfare Department and was attended by the faculty and students of the college.
