BBK DAV College for Women organizes “Diwali Fiesta” to celebrate world students’ day. A special exhibition was organized in the college premises to showcase the talent and entrepreneur skills of the students. It was collaborative efforts of Departments of Design (Fashion and Interior), Fine Arts, Home Science, Jewellery Designing, Applied Arts, French and Commerce. Dr. (Mrs.) Tajinder Nagpal from Hartej Hospital and Dr. (Mrs.) Amandeep Kaur from Amandeep Hospital were the chief guests for the event.
In the exhibition, students exhibited their talent through innumerable stalls on tie and dye, block and screen printing, upholstery and utility items, jute bags, murals, heena art, nail art, apparel accessories, scarves, stoles, wall hangings, dupatta, paper lanterns, mirrors, candles, diyas, tin foil art, wallplates, customized masks, various artifacts depicting ganesha, jharokhas etc. Students also displayed stalls of various food delicacies like bhel puri, russian salad, sandwiches, golgappas, cakes, chocolates, mojito and pasta etc.
Acknowledging the endeavors of the students and staff, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that such events are necessary for acquainting the students with vocational skills. She added that after pandemic, BBK DAV College has come up with Diwali festivities with full fervor and zeal.
Mrs. Balbir Kaur Bedi from Regenta Group of Hotels, Mr. Sundeep Zutshi, Head, Department of Applied Art, Mrs. Mandeep Sodhi, Head, Department of Design, Mr. Lalit Gopal, Department of Design, Dr. Benu Kapoor, Head, Department of Home Science, Mrs. Shefali Johar, Head, Department of Fine Arts, Dr. Anjana Bedi, Department of Commerce, Dr. Shelly Jaggi, Nodal Officer along with other faculty members, congratulated the students on making Diwali Fiesta a grand success.
