BBK DAV College for Women organized Dastak, a student orientation program on 22nd February, 2022.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia began the conclave with interactive session for the development of the students’ academic self-concept and enhancing their enthusiasm. Principal Dr. Walia created an atmosphere of motivational learning formatted on mutual sharing of personal experiences, values and beliefs. She encouraged the students to be confident, focused, strong and fearless to be an adept leader. She also emphasised the importance of compassion to promote harmony and peace in society. She acquainted the students with numerous facilities provided by the college besides academics and asked the students to contact Dr. Shelly Jaggi, Nodal Officer, in case of any hurdles. The students shared their life experiences and obtained consequential life lessons from Principal Dr. Walia.
NSS Program Officer, Ms. Surbhi Sethi briefed the students about NSS and edified them about value of community service. Further, Lt. Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Department of Physical Education, highlighted the importance of discipline in life and made the students aware about the benefits of joining NCC. She also informed them that the NCC unit of the college runs under One, Punjab Girls’ Battalion. Ms. Swati Datta, Librarian, informed the students about the various services offered by the college library, the E-resources subscribed through N-List and NDL (National Digital Library). Furthermore, Dr. Sunita Sharma, Department of Punjabi, enlightened the students to the eminence of Punjabi literature.
Dr. Shelly Jaggi, Nodal Officer, also addressed the students and foregrounded the significance of reading. She proposed a vote of thanks to Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia and the speakers for inspiring the students by dint of this interactive session.
