Department of Chemistry, BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organized a one-day international workshop titled “Research Methodology for Biomedical Applications of Nanofibers: A Multidisciplinary Approach”. Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur Bhullar from the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, St. Boniface Hospital, Albrechtsen Research Centre, Canada, was the resource person for the workshop.
Dr. Bhullar, in the workshop, delved into the intriguing realm of nanofiber technology and its potential to revolutionize cardiovascular treatments. She elaborated on how nanofibers, ultra-thin fibers, could be customized to fabricate advanced stents—tiny mesh tubes utilized to open blocked arteries. Furthermore, she discussed the potential of nanofibers in cardiac tissue regeneration. Alongside addressing the technical nuances of her research, Dr. Bhullar emphasized the exciting opportunities available for young science students interested in this burgeoning field.
While speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia highlighted the significance of nurturing scientific curiosity among students. She emphasized that as nanotechnology represents an emerging frontier in science and technology, students should pursue career in this field.
Students of B.Sc. Medical, Non-medical, and Biotechnology, as well as members of the NSS unit of the college, zealously attended the workshop. Dr. Rashmi Kalia, Dr. Poonam Khullar, Dr. Shweta Mohan, Dr. Vandana Gupta, Dr. Lavanya, and Dr. Shelja from the Department of Science were present in the workshop.
