BBK DAV College for Women organized an oath taking ceremony and an awareness rally as a part of Clean India 2.0 Programme along with Fit India run 3.0 for the month of October. Purpose of the rally was to create awareness about cleanliness and physical fitness. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia flagged off the rally along with LMC Chairperson, Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor. While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Walia said that the aim of the rally is to create awareness, sensitise students and ensure their involvement in cleaning waste as well as to integrate fitness as an essential part of their holistic development.
It is pertinent to note that Clean India Mission is a country-wide campaign initiated by the Government of India to eliminate open defecation, improve solid waste management and bring about behavioral changes amongst people regarding health and sanitation practices. Fit India Run Programme is initiated with a view to inculcate fitness habits in the daily lives of people. NSS volunteers of the college have been conducting cleanliness drives in different areas of college campus like hostel, canteen, lawns and various departments. Poster-making competition was also held to spread the message of cleanliness and hygiene.
Dr. Anita Narendra, Dean, Community Development, Ms. Surbhi Sethi, Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, NSS Programme officers along with other members of the team were present on the occasion.
