BBK DAV College for Women hosted a compelling lecture on the Crucial intersection of Environment and Pulmonary Health, featuring Dr. P.S. Grover, Director, MedicAid Hospital, as the resource person. The event drew an enthusiastic audience of students eager to explore the complexities of respiratory well-being within the context of our surroundings. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia extended a warm welcome to Dr. P.S. Grover, a highly regarded authority in the medical domain, and highlighted Dr Grover’s unique blend of affable demeanour and professional gravitas, highlighting his prominence in the medical community. She emphasised the need to address health concerns proactively by sharing personal anecdotes.
Dr. Grover engaged the audience with his insightful discourse on pulmonary health and its intricate relationship with the environment. He discussed autoimmune disorders and illustrated concepts with real-life examples. He elucidated the role of key chemicals such as histamine, serotonin, and adrenaline in the context of hyper immunity, shedding light on the physiological mechanisms underlying allergic reactions and immune responses. The lecture provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between environmental factors and respiratory health, empowering them to make informed decisions for their well-being. Students were enlightened by the lecture and various issues prevalent in the environment.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rashmi Kalia, Head, Dept. of Botany. Dr. Grover was honoured with an honorarium and a sapling as a token of environmental consciousness. Dr. Shweta Mohan, Head, Dept. of Physics and Dr. Poonam Khullar, Head, Dept. of Chemistry were also present on the occasion.
