BBK DAV College for Women celebrated Rishi Bodh Utsav with great verve and zeal by organizing a special Havan Yajna. The day is celebrated to propagate Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s teachings and to mark a tribute to this legendary reformer and Leader. The chief guest on this occasion was Prof.(Dr.) H.S. Bedi, Chancellor, Central University Himachal Pradesh.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the guests present. Addressing the audience present, she said that Swami ji’s contribution in the field of education is remarkable. And added that the day is auspicious as it marked the enlightenment which Swami ji received on the day of Shivratri, leading to awakening in the society against unfounded superstitions and dogmas.
On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) H.S. Bedi, a world renowned speaker while addressing the audience said that Swami Dayanand Saraswati ji was the son of goddess “Saraswati”. Not only India but the whole world is inspired by his philosophy of life and teachings. In United Nation Organisation 31 translated copies of Vedas are kept for the perusal of different readers. Swami Dayanand Saraswati ji was the inspiration for the Freedom Movement of our country. Swami ji had special love for the city of Amritsar and his lectures and speeches were published in The Tribune by its founder S. Dayal Singh Majithia.
In this auspicious function, the Department of Music presented melodious Bhajans. The certificates were given away to the students who brought laurels to the college by winning different online competitions held during Covid-19 lockdown period. The Compere on this occasion was Dr. Shelly Jaggi.
