A Blood Donation Camp was convened by the Youth Red Cross Society, NSS, and NCC units of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar. Dr. Rajinderpal Kaur, Assistant Civil Surgeon, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mrs. Neeta Mehra, President, Voice of Amritsar, was the Guest of Honour. A team of doctors, under the supervision of Dr. Kamaljit Kaur, Assistant Professor, Blood Bank, Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, conducted the camp.
Addressing the attendees, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia underscored the significance of blood donation, emphasizing its role in saving lives. Reflecting on the altruistic legacy of Bhai Ghanayia Ji, a revered disciple of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Principal Dr. Walia highlighted his pioneering efforts in providing medical aid and assistance to all, regardless of distinctions, long before the establishment of the Red Cross. She reiterated the college’s commitment to community service, citing the Blood Donation Camp as an annual endeavor aligned with the institution’s mission.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia was honored by the Blood Bank Unit of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital for her exemplary contribution to community service and societal welfare. The camp successfully collected a total of 29 units of blood.
Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee, commended the students for their conscientiousness and lauded their noble initiative.
Dr. Anita Narinder, Dean, Community Services, Dr. Binu Kapoor, Coordinator, Red Cross unit, Dr. Palwinder Singh, Ms. Akshika Aneja, Ms. Surbhi Sethi and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, NSS Programme Officers, along with other members of the staff were also present on the occasion.
