A blood Donation Camp was held by the Youth Red Cross Society, NSS and NCC units of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar. Dr. H.S. Nagpal, Managing Director, Hartej Hospital was the Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony of the event. A team of doctors under the supervision of Dr. Kamaljit Kaur, Assistant Professor, Blood Bank, Guru Nanak Dev Hospital conducted the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that blood is the most exquisite gift that one can give to another person. A decision to donate one’s blood can save a life, or even several lives. She added that BBK DAV College for Women realizes its responsibilities toward the society, and that is the reason why Blood Donation camp is an annual event of the college. And every year a large number of students come forward to voluntarily donate blood.
Dr. P.S. Grover, Medicaid Hospital was the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony of the camp. He congratulated the college Principal, Management, staff and students for coming forward for a noble cause. Total 60 units were collected during the camp. Knowledge Villa Integrated Education and Welfare Society (an NGO) awarded all the donors with the medals.
Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee, applauded the spirit of students for understanding their responsibility towards society and felicitated them on this noble venture.
