To celebrate the spirit of Diwali festivities BBK DAV College for Women organised Diwali Fiesta: A special exhibition to showcase the talent and entrepreneur skills of the students. The Fiesta was organized with the collaborative efforts of Departments of Design (Fashion and Interior), Fine Arts, Home Science and Jewellery Designing, Applied Arts, French, Commerce in the College premises. Dr. (Mrs.) Davinder Khaira, wife of Mr. Gurpreet Singh Khaira, Deputy Commissioner Amritsar, was the Chief Guest for the event.
In the exhibition, students exhibited their talent through myriad stalls on tie and die, block and screen printing, upholstery and utility items, jute bags, murals, heena art, nail art, apparel accessories, scarves, stoles, wall hangings, dupatta, paper lanterns, mirrors, candles, diyas, Tin Foil art, Customized Masks various artefacts depicting Ganesha, jharokhas etc. Students also displayed stalls of various food delicacies like, Bhel Puri, Russian Salad, Sandwiches, Golgappas, Cakes, Chocolates, Mojito and Pasta etc.
Dr. (Mrs.) Davinder Khaira applauded the efforts of the students for their creative talent and eclectic display. She congratulated the students, teachers and non-teaching staff who have worked behind the scenes to organise this event.
Acknowledging the endeavors of the students and staff, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that such events are necessary for acquainting the students with vocational skills. She added that after a year’s break due to the pandemic, this year BBK DAV College has come up with Diwali festivities with full fervor and zeal.
While giving the vote of thanks, Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee congratulated Principal, Dr. Pushpinder Walia and staff members for putting in so much of hard work to make this exhibition a successful event.
Mr. Sundeep Zutshi, Vice-Principal, Mr. Lalit Gopal, Department of Design, Dr. Benu Kapoor, Head, Department of Home Science, Mrs. Shefali Johar, Head, Department of Fine Arts, Mrs. Anjana Bedi, Department of Commerce along with other faculty members, congratulated the students on making Diwali Fiesta a grand success.
