The Heritage Centre, along with the PG Department of Punjabi, BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a special Folklore Exhibition to mark the 55th Foundation Day of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. During the exhibition, various artefacts and antique items of Punjabi heritage, such as, folk embroidery, phulkaris, durries, handicrafts, agricultural tools, musical instruments, artistic vessels as well as Punjabi clothing and accessories were displayed. In addition to this, the college students performed traditional Punjabi boliyan and giddha.
Dr. K.S. Kahlon, Registrar, GNDU, Mr. Palwinder Singh, Dean, Academic Affairs, GNDU, Dr. Ravi Ravinder, University of Delhi, and Dr. Rajesh Gill, Former Professor, Punjabi University, Patiala, graced the occasion with their presence.
Addressing the participants, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that it is of paramount importance to preserve as well as revive the cultural heritage of traditional Punjab which forms the bedrock of our collective identity. She also felicitated the PG Department of Punjabi on the successful conduct of the programme.
On this occasion, Dr. Rani, Head, PG Department of Punjabi, along with other faculty members, and Mr. Rattanjit Singh, Estate Officer, were present.
