BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar observed Mangal Kamna Diwas to install Student Council and Discipline Committee. The function began with lighting the lamp and singing of the college song ‘Akhand Jyoti Gyan ki’ that was sung by students of Department of Music. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Prof. Dr. Hardeep Singh, Head, Department of Computer Science, Dean, Students Welfare and Incharge Placement Cell, GNDU. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the Chief Guest with a sapling.
While welcoming the Chief Guest and addressing the students Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that it is a sombre occasion as students will be honoured by badges which are symbolic of their responsibilities to maintain discipline and decorum in the college. She further said humans are superior to animals as they can control their instincts and said that discipline is very essential for leading a meaningful and successful life.
The students of Discipline Committee and Student Council were decorated with the badges. Prof. Dr. Hardeep Singh congratulated the college for achievements in the spheres of Academics, Culture and Sports. He shared his wisdom with the college students and told that we are living in the age of knowledge and our country is the youngest country. He further said that within ten-fifteen years 50% of the jobs will go and students of today should be trained in such a way that they should become global citizens. He motivated the students to think differently and out of the box.
Dr. Neenu K. Malhotra, Vice-Principal, Mrs. Poonam Kohli, Dean, Discipline Committee, Mrs. Kamayani, Dean, Student Council, Mrs. Jaspreet Bedi, Mrs. Sapna Gupta, Mrs. Mandeep Sodhi, Dr. Sunita Sharma, Dr. Ritu Sharma were present in the function. The stage was conducted by Dr. Anita Narendra.
