BBK DAV College for Women commemorated Gandhi Jayanti as Swachhata Diwas. On this special occasion, a Swachhata drive was launched by Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia in the college campus, the faculty and students as well as NSS and NCC units of the college, participated in the event with great enthusiasm . During the event, a Swachhata oath was taken by the Principal, staff, and students whereby they solemnly pledged their commitment to the objectives of the Swachhata Abhiyan.
In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia emphasized that Mahatma Gandhi had tirelessly advocated cleanliness throughout his life and endeavored to awaken the nation’s conscience regarding this crucial issue. She reiterated that it is the moral duty of every citizen in our nation to actively contribute to the realization of the goals set forth by the Swachhata Abhiyan, initiated under the able stewardship of Prime Minister of India.
Additionally, the NSS unit, Dept. of Applied Arts and Dept. of Fine Arts of the college organized a poster-making competition centered on the significance of cleanliness in society. Students showcased their artistic talent and conveyed powerful messages through their posters. The competition culminated with the presentation of certificates to the winners in recognition of their creative efforts. Simrat Kaur, B.Com Sem V and Himanshi, MA Fine Arts Sem I stood first in the competition, Shivani Rana, BFA (Painting) Sem III and Sonia, B.Voc (Banking and Financial Services) Sem I got the second prize, Sarita Singh, BFA (Painting) Sem III and Kashish, B.Com Sem III won the third prize, Shriya Sharma B.Com Sem I, Muskan Bhandari, BBA Sem I and Ajit Kaur, MA Fine Art Sem I got consolation prizes.
Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee appreciated the efforts of the college and said that Gandhi Jayanti serves as a reminder that the pursuit of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of Swachhata is not just a one-day event but a lifelong commitment towards creating a cleaner, healthier, and more harmonious world.
