BBK DAV College for Women’s NSS unit celebrated Road Safety Week under the guidelines of Department of Higher Education, Government of Punjab. In the week long programme, various activities were organized to create and spread awareness among the students. Students were shown videos about traffic rules, and were sensitized about importance of safety, while driving the vehicles on roads.
Police Commissionerate, Amritsar also organized special lectures in the college campus regarding traffic rules. While addressing the students, Mr. Paramjit Singh, Inspector and Incharge, District Saanjh Kendra, Amritsar, briefed the students about various traffic rules and focused on the fact that safety on road is equivalent to a long life. Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Sharanjit Kaur talked about cyber crime and advised the students not to use mobile phones while driving.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia congratulated Dr. Anita Narendra, Dean, Community Services, Ms. Surbhi Sethi and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, NSS Programme Officers for organizing the events successfully. She said that road safety is a matter of public health concern, and of significant importance to society. She added that traffic rules and guidelines have to be set in place and strictly followed so that serious accidents and injuries can be averted. She thanked the resource persons for sparing their precious times for the noble cause.
