BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a seminar on “Breast Cancer Awareness and Adolescent Health” in which Dr. Jagpreet Kaur, Obstetrics and Gynaecologist from Livasa Hospital, Amritsar, was the resource person.
While addressing the students, Dr. Jagpreet Kaur shed light upon issues like breast self-examination and menstrual hygiene management. She also busted several myths regarding breast cancer and added that it is a completely preventable and curable disease, if diagnosed and treated well in time.
In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia highlighted that awareness is a prerequisite to combat cancer of any type in order to prevent its spread and further added that such educational programs are a doorway to successfully deal with fatal diseases like cancer. She also felicitated the Red Cross Unit of the college on the successful conduct of the programme.
Ms. Kiran Gupta, Head, PG Department of Computer Science, proposed a vote of thanks while Dr. Binu Kapoor, Co-ordinator, Red Cross Unit and Head, PG Department of Home Science, Ms. Kamayani, Dean, Discipline and Students’ Council, along with other faculty members and students, were also present on the occasion.
