NSS unit of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar organised Swachhta Oath ceremony on its campus. The ceremony was presided over by Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia, Mr. Shailesh Kumar (Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports), Ms. Madhubala (Regional Director, NSS), Dr. Hardeep Singh Gujral (NSS Program Co-ordinator, GNDU) and members of Nehru Yuva Kendra. Nearly 300 NSS volunteers took the oath in which they pledged to keep their campus, city, state and country clean. They also pledged to devote 100 hours every year towards the cause of cleanliness.
On this occasion a multimedia presentation on the Swachhta Pakhwara Project and female foeticide awareness prepared by the Multi-Media Department of the college was also shown.
While addressing the volunteers Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that foreign countries are neat and clean, because their citizens do not indulge in littering, so we should emulate them. She also highlighted the various community initiatives which are taken by college and the way NSS volunteers keep on creating awareness among the masses about the various social issues. She congratulated the NSS team and volunteers for taking the initiatives.
On this occasion, Mr. Shailesh Kumar congratulated the volunteers on the remarkable efforts they are putting in. He also encouraged the volunteers to organise on the activities for the welfare of underprivileged people.
NSS program officers, Ms. Surbhi Sethi and Ms. Priya Sharma along with her team members and NSS volunteers participated in the ceremony with zeal.
