National Inter-State Junior Red Cross Training-cum-Study Camp under National Youth Exchange Programme, concluded at BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar. The event commenced with a floral tribute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, honoring his legacy of excellence in service to the nation.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia, in her address, stated that the camp has been dedicated to the supreme sacrifice of the four Sahibzaade of Guru Gobind Singh ji. On the sombre occasion of the closing of the camp, the Principal also recalled the contribution of Dr. Manmohan Singh for bailing out Indian Economy from bankruptcy. Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Committee, in his speech, paid homage to the former Prime Minister who had been his batchmate and personal friend. He lauded Dr. Manmohan Singh’s humility, intelligence and commitment.
The winners of various competitions were awarded for their outstanding performance during the event. Organisers of Guru Ramdas Old Age Home were honoured for their commendable efforts towards support and care for the elderly. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia was also honoured by the Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab State Branch, Chandigarh, for her exemplary and selfless service to humanity.
During the camp, S. Gurpreet Singh Namdhari conducted a live painting demonstration depicting the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh while being bricked alive.
The college’s Department of Music delivered a soulful Shabad Gayan performance in heartfelt tribute to the four Sahibzaade of Guru Gobind Singh ji. The camp concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by S. Amarjit Singh, Field Officer, Red Cross; Dr. Anita Narinder, Dr. Binu Kapoor, Mrs. Binnie Sharma, Conveners, along with Dr. Palwinder Singh, Ms. Akshika Aneja, Members, Red Cross Unit of the college, were also present during the event.
