Department of Design BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organized a two-day workshop on ‘Batik’ on 13th & 14th Oct., 2025 for the students of BD Fashion & Textile and B.Voc. Fashion under (IIC) Institution Innovation Council. The resource person was Ms. Bharti, a teacher at Central Jail, Amritsar who has an experience of more than 18 years. The workshop aimed to provide students with hands-on experience in traditional textile surface designing techniques. Students enthusiastically participated and learnt the process of wax-resist dyeing, its tools, materials and creative applications in modern fashion and interior products. Students made articles like jackets, wall frames and trays under the guidance of Ms. Cheena, Head, Department of Design.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia commended the students for their valuable learning experience and appreciated the innovative initiative of the department of blending traditional art with contemporary design.
