BBK DAV College for Women’s Department of Biosciences, organized a webinar on Covid & Mental Health to raise awareness regarding the importance of mental health in the Covid era. Dr. Sonal Rai, Consultant Psychiatric, Bhatia Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, was the resource person for the webinar. Dr. Rashmi Kalia, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Biosciences, welcomed the resource person.
In her lecture Dr. Rai said that Corona virus has imposed a set of new lifestyle rituals in our daily routines, which include working from home, home schooling, social isolation and in some cases temporary loss of jobs also. She said that human mind was not ready for such unexpected changes, that’s why is clouded by various fears, stigmas, anxieties, vulnerability and depression etc. She suggested various measures of overcoming all these contingent fears and keep our spirits high. She said that measures like regular exercising, consistent talking to your friends and family on phone, supporting each other and minimal use of alcohol can help a lot in combating the fears of Covid-19 pandemic.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia applauded the efforts of the Department of Biosciences, for organizing such an enlightening lecture for the students. She said that everyone is going through some kind of apprehensions or fears in these tough times. Such lectures can help everyone in battling their doubts and make a comeback with full fervor and zeal.
