BBK DAV College for Women organized a special Vedic Havan Yajna to celebrate the 200th Birth Anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati ji. The Havan began with the chanting of Gayatri Mantra and culminated with a bhajan performed by the Department of Music.
In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia expressed her gratitude to the divine with the invocation “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah”. She said that years 2024 and 2025 are dedicated to Maharishi Dayanand ji to disseminate his message to the masses. She highlighted that the beacon of Arya Samaj, ignited by Swami Dayanand ji, continues to illuminate and inspire people with its timeless wisdom and humanitarian ethos. Amidst a world shrouded in darkness, he emerged to dispel ignorance and eradicate social maladies. Under his guidance, Arya Samaj cultivated a spirit of philanthropy among people. Principal Dr. Walia conveyed her reverence for Maharishi Dayanand ji’s transformative ideology, which etched an indelible mark on history.
Shri Inderpal Arya, Convener, Arya Samaj, Shakti Nagar, said that Swami Dayanand ji had dedicated his life for the propagation of Vedic faith. Sh. Jawahar Lal from Arya Samaj Model Town highlighted Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s contribution towards upliftment of women in the Indian society. Sh. Rakesh Mehra, General Secretary, Kendriya Arya Sabha, Amritsar elaborated on Maharishi Swami Dayanand ji’s efforts in nurturing national consciousness and championing democratic governance. Sh. Murari Lal, Mantri, Arya Samaj, Putlighar said that Swami Dayanand ji had a significant impact on Indian society and played a crucial role in the Indian independence movement.
Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC, congratulated Principal Dr. Walia and faculty members on the successful completion of the havan. He reflected on the sacrifices made by Swami Dayanand Saraswati for the elevation of Vedic values in the society.
The Havan was attended by various esteemed members of Arya Samaj including Sh. Sandip Ahuja, Col. Ved Mittar, Sh. Gaurav Talwar, Sh. Inderpal Thukral, Sh. Atul Mehra along with the students and staff members of the college.
