BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organized a lecture on ‘Women’s Health and Hygiene’ on 15th February 2024. Dr. Sukhbir Singh, Mrs. Nandini Bansal, Mrs. Rajwant, and Miss Amandeep from Ladyfern Company graced the occasion as resource persons. The program commenced with the presenting of saplings to the guests.
Dr. Sukhbir Singh highlighted the significance of unreservedly discussing menstrual health and hygiene, emphasizing the need to dispel associated misconceptions. He elaborated on the potential health risks, including infection, irritation, and an increased risk of cervical cancer if menstrual hygiene is neglected. Mrs. Nandini Bansal advocated for eco-friendly and affordable napkins as a solution to this pressing issue, accentuating its relevance as a public health concern. Mrs. Rajwant stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and avoiding junk food during menstruation. The lecture concluded with an interactive session where experts addressed students’ queries.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia commended Dr. Anita Narendra, Dean, Community Initiatives Development, and NSS Program Officers, Mrs. Surbhi Sethi and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, for their meaningful efforts in organizing a lecture on such a crucial topic concerning female students. She also inspired and encouraged them to continue organizing similar lectures in the future as well. The event was attended by teaching and non-teaching staff, including Dr. Paramjeet, Mrs. Akshika, and Mrs. Raji, further enhancing its significance.
