College organises inauguration ceremony of Inter-State Junior Red Cross Training-cum-Study Camp

BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised the inauguration ceremony of the Inter-State Junior Red Cross Training-cum-Study Camp in collaboration with the Punjab State Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society, Chandigarh. The camp brought together 300 students and teachers from 9 states across India, including Gujrat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. Sh. Lal Vishwas Bains, SDM, Nakodar, was the chief guest for the inauguration ceremony.

While welcoming the guests, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that Red Cross operates on the principles of humanity, impartiality, unity, and universality. Dr. Walia dedicated the camp to the supreme sacrifice of the Char Sahibzadas and paid tribute to the invaluable contribution of Bhai Ghanayia Ji. She emphasized how his legacy of selfless service to humanity, transcending all barriers of discrimination, embodies the true spirit of giving.

In his inaugural address, SDM Sh. Bains lauded all the participants of the Red Cross camp for embracing the noble path of service and compassion. He urged them to take inspiration from the exemplary life of Bhagat Puran Singh, a true beacon of selflessness and unwavering dedication to humanity.

Dr. Simardeep, Dean Academics and Camp Coordinator, delivered an enlightening lecture on stress management, equipping participants with practical strategies to maintain mental well-being. Besides, Dr. Naresh provided a thought-provoking overview of the thriving tourism industry in Punjab and across India, highlighting its potential and opportunities. Various competitions in Folk Song, Group Song, and Group Dance were held, showcasing the participants’ talents and celebrating the rich cultural diversity of the nation.

The programme concluded with the recitation of  National Anthem. Dr. Anita Narinder, Dr. Binu Kapoor, Mrs. Binnie Sharma, Conveners, along with Dr. Palwinder, Ms. Akshika Aneja, Members, Red Cross Unit of the college, were also present during the event.
