College organises a special Vedic Havan Yagya to commemorate the Martyrdom Day of Swami Shraddhanand ji  

BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a special Vedic Havan Yagya to commemorate the Martyrdom Day of Swami Shraddhanand ji. The holy Havan started with the chanting of Gayatri Mantra. On this occasion, Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Committee, and Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia served as the chief yajmam.

Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia, while thanking God, shed light upon the exemplary character of Swami Shraddhanand ji   and added that Swami Shraddhanand ji  disseminated the ethos of education rooted in the teachings and principles of the Vedas and Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati ji. While describing the life and teachings of Swami Shraddhanand ji, she urged everyone to emulate Swami ji‘s commitment to societal welfare and follow the path shown by him. She further highlighted the fact that Swami ji was the one who founded Gurukul Kangri University and said that Swami ji laid his life for the cause of Vedic principles and values. She concluded her speech by saying that it was Swami ji who first addressed Mahatma Gandhi by the name Mahatma.

Mr. Inderpal Arya, President, Arya Samaj, Laxmansar, highlighted that Swami Shraddhanand ji started the age-old Gurukul tradition and put his words into action by fulfilling his determination to build Gurukul Kangri. He concluded that we should seek inspiration from the legacy laid by Swami Shraddhanand ji.

Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, President, Local Committee, felicitated Principal Dr. Walia and the staff members on the successful completion of the Havan and highlighted the fact that Swami Shraddhanand Ji dedicated his entire life to the service of humanity.

The Department of Music presented a soulful bhajan. The stage was conducted by Dr. Anita Narendra, Head, Department of Hindi. On this occasion, Sh. Sandeep Ahuja, Sh. Gaurav Talwar, Arya Samaj, Shakti Nagar, Sh. Anil Vinayak, Arya Samaj, Lawrence Road, Sh. Inderpal Thukral, Arya Samaj, Putlighar and Principal Dr. Pallavi Sethi, along with the teaching and non teaching staff  as well as office bearers of the college, were present.
