BBK DAV College for Women commemorated the martyrs on the Martyrdom Day of Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru by organizing multiple events. It began with a symposium on the revered Indian revolutionary, S. Bhagat Singh in the college seminar hall. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the resource person, Prof. (Dr.) Manjinder Singh, Head, School of Punjabi Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. In her address, Principal Dr. Walia said that the legacy of S. Bhagat Singh and other martyrs transcends mere memorials; it lives on through their ideals, values and the enduring impact of their actions which continue to ignite the flame of resistance and perseverance in the hearts of the people. Prof. (Dr.) Manjinder Singh delivered a lecture on “S. Bhagat Singh: Ik Chintak Wajon”. He highlighted S. Bhagat Singh’s rejection of casteism and religion as tools of oppression and, said that his call for unity and equality among all Indians posed a direct challenge to the British Empire.
The event culminated with a Nukkad Natak in open air theatre on the Life of Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru, named ‘Pranaam Shaheedan nu’. It depicted the momentous events of their life time and how they sacrificed their lives for the nation, leaving an enduring legacy of courage and determination in the pursuit of freedom.
Dr. Simardeep, Dean, Academics, Dr. Naresh Kumar, Dean, Youth Welfare Department, Dr. Anita Narinder, Dean Community Development, Mrs. Kamayani, Dean Discipline & Students’ Council, Ms. Surabhi Sethi and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, NSS Programme officers, as well as other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
