BBK DAV College for Women, in collaboration with the Police Commissionerate Amritsar, organized a Seminar on Drug Awareness to educate students on the dangers of substance abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle. S. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar (IPS), Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, was the Chief Guest for the event.
In her welcome address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that the passion of life lies in noble things like social service, education, and cherishing family bonds—not in drugs. Our body is a temple that should be nurtured, not destroyed. S. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, in his address, emphasized the role of law enforcement and society in combating drug abuse. He said that awareness and self-discipline are the strongest tools to fight drug addiction.
Sukhwinder Singh Jethuwal, a life coach, discussed the psychological impact of drug abuse and the importance of resilience. Besides, ADCP Harkamal Kaur accentuated the collective responsibility of society in tackling drug abuse. Thereafter, Dr. Mankaranpreet Kaur, MBBS, MD Psychiatry, delivered a compelling speech on the medical and psychological consequences of drug addiction, explaining how substance abuse affects mental health and well-being. S. Gurpartap Singh, shared his personal journey of overcoming addiction.
During the seminar, a thought-provoking stage drama portraying the devastating effects of drug addiction on individuals and families was performed by the Azad Bhagat Singh Virasat Manch.
Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Advisory Committee gave a vote of thanks. Inspector Tejinder Kaur, along with college faculty members and students, enthusiastically attended the seminar.
